The
work of the Holy Spirit
Within
the limits of human comprehension, yet trusting
in our faith, we realize that the Holy
Spirit works in multiple ways, both within
us and without us. Our faith allows us to believe
in the action of God on our lives through the
work of the Holy Spirit, conscious of our participation
in the divine purpose.
The
Holy Spirit transforms
us in the image and likeness of Christ "...we
are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing
glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit"
(II Corinthians 3:18),
The
Holy Spirit intercedes
for us in our prayers "In
the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness.
We do not know what we ought to pray for, but
the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans
that words cannot express. And he who searches
our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because
the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance
with God's will." (Romans
8:26-27),
The
Holy Spirit produces
its fruit within us "But the fruit of
the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control"
(Galatians
5:22),
The
Holy Spirit helps us
to know God and the things of God "The
Spirit searches all things, even the deep things
of God" (I Corinthians
2:10)
The
Holy Spirit is the comforter
"and I will ask the Father, and he will
give you another Counselor to be with you forever
- the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept
him, because it neither sees him nor knows him.
But you know him, for he lives with you and will
be in you."
(John 14:17)
The
Holy Spirit renews,
sanctifies and justifies "And that is
what some of you were. But you were washed, you
were sanctified, you were justified in the name
of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of
our God." (1Corinthians
6:11)
"Therefore we do not lose
heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet
inwardly we are being renewed day by day."
(II
Corinthians 4:16)
Ultimately
the Holy Spirit will
transform the body of believers in an incorruptible
body
"And if the Spirit of him
who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you,
he who raised Christ from the dead will also give
life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit,
who lives in you" (Romans 8:11)
The
Holy Spirit is the internal
power coming from God which allows us to bear
witness to our faith "But you will receive
power when the Holy Spirit comes on you and you
will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all
Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth"
(Acts 1:8)
