Love is at the heart of christianity and benevolence is one of the fundamental expressions of love: “Love is patient, love is kind; ..it is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs” (I Corinthians 13:4-5)

Benevolence is also at the heart of God’s actions towards us. His nature is our example of how we are to behave towards others. Jesus said: “But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.” (Luke 6:35-36)

As we practice benevolence, we realize how it must find application in all our relationships, even in difficult situations, within our families, as well as in all our interactions, without ever losing the example of Christ as our point of reference.

In a global context, the church of Christ of Florence supports projects of humanitarian and spiritual assistance, specifically directed toward the youth in third world countries.
